A glimpse into people's lives

The year 2020 marks the 150th anniversary of the creation of the Province of Manitoba. This anniversary is a great opportunity to celebrate the people who have contributed to the province’s establishment, growth, vitality and culture.

This exhibit features artefacts that remind us that our history is made of people’s daily lives, of people accomplishing extraordinary things and of people involved in major historic events. Each person has played a role in shaping our province and their belongings give us a glimpse into various aspects of people’s lives.

The objects you see highlight the wide range of lived experience in Manitoba’s Métis and French-Canadian communities, and share the stories of small store owners, farmers, professionals, activists, homemakers, historic icons and children.
